Should you have a Plan B while preparing for IAS ?

In early 2014, when I started my #IAS preparation one thought constantly interrupted my mind - What will I do, if I don’t end up clearing civil services?


1. Game of Luck - Out of 1 million who register for #UPSC, around 90 make it to the coveted IAS. Believe it or not, UPSC is a game of luck - after a point of time.


An exceptionally talented friend scored 165 in the interview, while I scored 205 - not because I was better prepared, but because he was stuck with a wrong board on a wrong day.


2. 2 Years Gap - 3 stage exam requires a minimum 1 year to prep before first attempt.


It becomes extremely difficult to justify lack of practical skills and 2 years gap either for MBA Admissions or next employment, if you decide to pivot after 2 years.

Through core Masterclasses, flexible curriculum, and impact consulting style projects - Impact Fellowship provides a deep dive into the world of social impact consulting, and international development. It is also more expensive than the Scholars program.
