A few days ago, a close friend of mine failed to qualify for her IAS interview

When you fail a government exam in India - you are in an incredible sweet spot; where you don’t have much to lose.

1. You have already lost your 20s competing for exams with less than 1% success rate.

2. You have lost your chance to experience the thrill, stress, excitement of working in Tesla and McKinseys of the world in your 20s.

3. You have lost your opportunity to experience the curious feeling of being a 20-year-old backpacker- on your own- in a foreign country on your first annual bonus.

You are angry, annoyed, and devastated at the impractical exam structure.

But the fact of the matter is - Government doesn't care.

Wasting your youth centered around an exam is no way to live your 20s. The pattern and exam cycle of the Government exams in India will remain archaic, and inefficient. The government won't realize that, but you should.

Hedge your risks, and invest in practical skills.

The modern world provides you with a million ways to make a tangible difference, only if you have fire in your belly.
